Course Description

This learning area is designed to provide a general background for the understanding of the Earth on a planetary scale. It presents the history of the Earth through geologic time. It discusses the Earth’s structure and composition, the processes that occur beneath and on the Earth’s surface, as well as issues, concerns, and problems pertaining to Earth’s resources.

Course Objectives

At the end of the course, students should be able to:
1. Acquire general background for the understanding of Earth on a planetary scale.
2. Present the history of Earth through geologic time scale.
3. Identify Earth’s structure, composition, the processes that occur beneath and on the Earth’s surface.
4. Have awareness regarding issues, concerns and problems pertaining to Earth’s resources.

A. Philippine Map
B. 3 D Model of the layers of the earth materials (Recycled materials (cloth/ paper mache/ plastic bottles/ Styrofoam ball, toothpicks, paper, and paint)
C. Erupting Volcano Materials: 1.5 L plastic bottle, baking soda, dish soap, food    coloring, vinegar)
D. Plate Tectonics 3 D Model (Styrofoam purchased from a craft store, Wood pieces, Clay, Paper mache)
