FIRST QUARTER
Course Description: The learner listens critically; communicates feelings and ideas orally and in writing with a high level of proficiency; and reads various text types materials to serve learning needs in meeting a wide range of life’s purposes.
I. Objectives: At the end of the first quarter the grade six pupils should be able to:
A. interpret the symbols or visual elements as line, symbols, color, gaze, framing and social distance to understand
ideas or messages conveyed in the selections or films viewed.
B. construct sentences and paragraphs by expressing clear and coherent grammar structures with correct plural forms of
regular and irregular nouns, cases of nouns, and agreement of the pronouns as referents (number, gender, cases).
C. use modals to show appropriate expressions with the verbs in the structures to convey clear ideas, message, and
insights about the oral and written structure or paragraph.
D. accept corrections with tact to straighten willingly and readily one’s shortcomings to become a better and worthy
individual.
E. utilize the various reading skills taken as predicting outcomes, summarizing story pyramid, real /make-believe, fact or
non-fact images to distinctly understand the genres introduced and their characteristics.
II. Content:
A. Reading and Writing
1. Interpret the meaning suggested
in visual media through a focus on visual elements,
for example, line, symbols, color, gaze, framing
and social distance
2. Make connections between information
viewed and personal experiences
3. Identify real or make-believe,
fact or non-fact images about the texts read
4. Infer the speaker’s tone, mood and purpose –
5. Distinguish text-types according
to features(structural and language enumeration of information (print, online, and broadcast)
6. Analyze figures of speech (simile, metaphor, personification hyperbole) in a given text
7. Identify different meanings of content specific words (denotation in Science and other discipline)
8. Self-correct when reading

B. Grammar
