Course Description

This course demonstrates understanding of salient features of Asian music, through appreciation, analysis, and performance for self-development, the celebration of Filipino cultural identity and diversity, and the expansion of one’s world vision.

I. Objectives: at the end of the quarter the students will be able to:

A. explain how the music of a Southeast Asian country relate to its geography and culture;
B. perform music from Southeast Asia with own accompaniment;
C. analyze musical elements of selected songs and instrumental pieces heard and performed.

Arts

Course description:

This course demonstrates understanding of salient features of Asian arts, through appreciation, analysis, and performance for self-development, the celebration of Filipino cultural identity and diversity, and the expansion of one’s world vision.

I. Objectives: at the end of the quarter the students will be able to:

A. analyze elements and principles of art in the production of arts and crafts inspired by the cultures of Southeast Asia;
B. create crafts that can be locally assembled with local materials, guided by local traditional techniques (e.g.,batik, silk weaving, etc.);
C. appreciate the artifacts and art objects in terms of their utilization and their distinct use of art elements and principles.

Physical Education

Course Description:

The learner demonstrates understanding of family and school fitness in sustaining an active lifestyle.

I. Objectives: at the end of the quarter the students will be able to:

A. describes the nature and background of the sport;
B. conducts physical activity and physical fitness assessments of family/school peers;
C. appreciate one’s health by monitoring periodically one’s progress towards the fitness goals.

Health

Course description:

The learner demonstrates understanding family health and prevention and control of diseases and disorders (communicable and non-communicable to achieve sustain, and promote family health and wellness.)

I. Objectives: at the end of the quarter the students will be able to:

A. analyzes the factors that affect one’s attitudes and practices related to sexuality and sexual behaviors;
B. applies decision-making skills in managing sexuality related issues;
C. relates the importance of sexuality to family health.

II. Content

A. Gender and Human Sexuality

C. Identity crisis
D. Sexual identity and sexual behaviors
E. Pre- marital sex, teenage pregnancies, and abortion.
