SECOND QUARTER

Course Description: The learner demonstrates understanding and appreciation of key concepts and skills involving numbers and number sense( whole numbers up to 100 000, multiplication and division of whole numbers, order of operations, factors and multiples, addition and subtraction  of fractions , and basic concepts of decimals involving money );geometry (lines, angles, triangles and quadrilaterals); patterns and algebra (continuous and repeating patterns and number sentences); measurement (time, perimeter, area and volume); and statistics and probability(tables, bar graphs and simple experiments) as applied-using appropriate technology – in critical thinking, problem solving, reasoning, communicating, making connections, representations and decisions in real life.

I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of the quarter, the learners should be able to:

A. apply knowledge of factors and multiples, and addition and subtraction of fractions; and

B. recognize and represent improper fractions and mixed numbers.

1. Factors and multiples of a number up to 100

B. Prime and Composite

1. Differentiating Prime from Composite numbers

C. GCF and LCM

1. Finding the GCF and LCM using Listing method, Prime Factorization and Continuous Division

D. Proper Fractions, Improper Fractions and Mixed Numbers

1. Changing Improper Fractions to Mixed Numbers

2. Changing Fraction to Lowest Forms

1. Similar Fractions

F. Subtraction of Fractions

1. Subtracting similar Fractions

2. Subtracting Dissimilar Fractions

3. Solving and Creating Word problems

G. Decimals

1. Renaming Decimal numbers to Fractions

2. Giving the Place Value in a Decimal Number through Hundredths

3. Rounding Decimal to the nearest whole number and tenth

4. Comparing and Ordering Decimal
