THIRD QUARTER

Course description: the learner demonstrates understanding and appreciation of key concepts and skills involving number and number sense (whole numbers up to 10 000 000, order of operations, factors and multiples, fractions and decimals including money, ratio and proportion, percent); geometry (polygons, circles, solid figures) ; patterns and algebra (sequence and number sentences); measurement (time, circumference, area, volume, and temperature); and statistics and probability (tables , line graphs and experimental probability) as applied – using appropriate technology – in critical thinking, problem solving, reasoning, communicating, making connections, representations and decisions in real life.

I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of the quarter, the learners should be able to:

A. recognize and represent decimals, ratio and proportion; and

B. apply the four fundamental operations involving decimals and ratio and proportion in mathematical problems and real-life situations.

II. CONTENT

A. Decimals

1. Decimal to fraction and vice versa.
2. Identifying place value and value through ten thousandths
3. Rounding decimal numbers
4. Comparing and ordering

B. Addition of Decimals

1. Adding decimals though thousandths.

C. Subtraction of Decimals

1. Subtracting decimals though thousandths.

D. Multiplication of Decimals

1. Multiplying decimals up to 2 decimal places by  1- to 2- digit numbers

E. Division of Decimals

1. Dividing decimals up to 2 decimal places by  1- to 2- digit numbers
2. Dividing whole numbers with quotients in decimal form

F. Ratio and Proportion

1. Expressing in simplest form
2. Identifying Equivalent Ratio
3. Finding the missing term in a pair of equivalent ratios.
